Friday 23rd September was our first NIPA competition of the year, continuing to be a hybrid meeting via clubhouse and zoom. The topic for this competition was “Open” meaning that the photographer could choose whatever subject matter they wished from any genre of photography. Entries were divided into three main categories Colour Print, Mono Print and Digital Projection Image. These three groups were then divided into Advanced and Novice sections.
Our judge for the evening was William Allen and began his constructive critic with the Colour Print round giving his time and fair judgement on every photo in each round. In judging each image, William gave his opinion on how an image could be improved through composition or lighting, always a valuable piece of advice to each photographer. There was a pleasing range of images from insects and flowers to landscapes and architecture.
